OCLC CONTENTdm User Group Meeting 2019

During this presentation, Revs staff will discuss previous and future customizations, as well as how they have approached building the Revs Digital Library (RDL) to focus on enhancing the user experience. At last year’s CONTENTdm Users Group Meeting, Revs staff detailed key customized features, such as list or grid view of the results page for up to 100 items per page, a facet for sorting on a range of years, a facet for viewing the newly added images for the last three months, dynamic customized facets, and an integrated e-commerce platform on CDM. Revs has since rolled out a crowdsourcing system for metadata and bi-directional synonym searching. In the future, Revs is looking to add additional features, such as an option for viewing facet values alphabetically, an option to view all of the values in each facet, conditional buttons for image ordering based on copyright, and an option for sorting the results ranked by number of crowdsourced additions/edits. Additionally, Revs has synced the RDL metadata records through OCLC’s Digital Collection Gateway to provide yet another access point and search option for the user. Approaching customizations in such a user-focused manner has allowed Revs to build a growing research resource that users enjoy using.
